Could the GOP be any more predictable?

I’m not a prophet. I’m just an experienced person.

It took nothing but above-average intelligence to make the prediction I made on the radio last week that Democrats owed the wide open border they created to failed Republican action. Because this has all happened before.

In 1990, George H.W. Bush signed what was then the largest tax increase in American history. This happened after he was elected president in 1988 on the promise of “read my lips: no new taxes,” but Democrats spent more money than every dollar of tax revenue they collected. I had made a nifty promise to him that I would spend it on reducing the budget deficit. But did they do that? No, they didn’t.

Are most of these Republicans traitors, idiots, or cowards? yes.

Instead, Democrats pivoted and attacked President Bush for violating his tax pledges and causing an economic recession. He thus became the first president in American history to lose an election after winning a war.

Two decades later, both 2010 and 2014 saw the Republican Party win massive midterm elections against the personally popular President Barack Obama. These were historic victories. The 2014 midterm elections saw one of the largest swings in U.S. Senate seats since Reconstruction. What was the driving problem? Obamacare was promoted by Obama with a very big lie (“If you like your health plan, you can keep it”). Politifact had to call it out.

So when Republicans took control of the White House and Congress in 2016, was Obamacare repealed? No it wasn’t. And in 2018, Democrats regained 40 House seats with health care polls a top concern for voters.

You can’t make something like this up. There’s no need for that. Republicans are often blamed for the farce that brought them to power in the first place and are quickly wiped out. After slipping on so many banana peels and stepping on so many pitchforks, we stop thinking of you as Mr. Bean who randomly and naively encounters accident after accident and realize that you’re in a sinister conspiracy. You have no choice but to do so before you begin to think that you are fulfilling your role faithfully. That in itself is out.

It’s like watching a matchup between the Washington Generals and Harlem Globetrotters. One team is clearly a controlled opponent. They’re just there as cannon fodder. Sure, everyone is sweating in the sport of basketball, but the outcome is predetermined.

Congressional Republicans either repealed and vetoed Obamacare when Obama was president, or had then-Majority Leader Harry Reid shoot it down when Democrats held the Senate. I even voted for one or the other more than 50 times. But when the moment of truth came in 2017, the GOP’s master plan was to maintain the individual mandate and eliminate only the corporate mandate, fulfilling all of the Democrats’ attacks on Republicans as prostitutes for big business. Was that.

But you know! Populism!

History not only repeats itself, it also rhymes. Intentionally or not, the Republicans generally keep playing the same useful idiots, so the Democrats just have to keep playing the same songs we’ve all heard before.

Are most of these Republicans traitors, idiots, or cowards? yes. Because it doesn’t matter which of these motivational categories the kissing of individuals like Mitch McConnell or James Lankford fall into. Either way, the predictable outcome is the same.

After McConnell and Lankford engineered a war in collaboration with the enemy, there was no question. TARP level events They will enact laws that previous generations would have considered treason, and Democrats will pounce on them, shifting the blame onto the supposed opposition party.

Every revolutionary of color knows to never let the idiots who aided and abetted your rise to power live. So that their spinelessness won’t come back to haunt you again. So McConnell and Lankford received a potter’s field and maybe even jelly beans to freshen their breath after they finished performing for the administration. Lankford was also “honored” by CNN. They received their full compensation.

I predicted exactly what Biden would say. But even I didn’t expect Biden to say exactly what I predicted, just two hours after I predicted it. But when the White House pharmacist signals that a debilitated dementia patient’s Adderall drip has reached its limit, you trot him out, read lines from a pre-approved script, and do whatever you can. Let him pretend to be the president.

Yes, this is totally ironic, I know. But hell is an ironic place, and much of what we see these days originates from hell.
