Paul Begala, a former adviser to President Bill Clinton, joked Friday that he “wet the bed” over the findings of special counsel Robert Hur’s scathing report into President Biden’s handling of classified documents.
“Look, I’m a Biden supporter. And I slept like a baby last night. I woke up every two hours and wet the bed,” the Democratic strategist quipped during an appearance on CNN.
Mr. Xu’s bombshell report said that Mr. Biden, 81, “intentionally retained and disclosed classified material,” but that a jury could see the president as an “old man with a poor memory,” and that criminal He claims he should not be prosecuted.
“This is terrible for Democrats. And anyone with a functioning brain knows that,” Begala said of the 388-page report released Thursday.
After the report was withdrawn, Mr. Biden lashed out at reporters and the Republican special counsel in remarks he made at the White House, in which he said, “I know what I’m doing” and “My memory is fine.” declared.
Begala, a former chief strategist for the 1992 Clinton-Gore campaign, argued that Biden should have taken a different approach.
“Instead of holding a press conference and saying, ‘I’m really sharp,’ you attack your opponent,” he explained.
“I remember when he was vice president he said, ‘Don’t compare us to the Almighty, compare us to the replacement.’ So the whole thing with Biden was, ‘Don’t compare us to the Almighty, compare us to the replacement. Instead of saying, “I’m great,” it should be, “This person is really toxic, dangerous, and a threat.”

“This is going to be a really rough, ugly, unpleasant campaign,” Begala said of the expected general election rematch between Biden and former President Donald Trump.
“They have to say to Democrats, ‘Look, vote for old people, support old people, that’s important,'” he said of what the Biden campaign’s approach should be.
Beglalla also suggested that Biden, who is prone to gaffes, should speak more publicly before November.
“I want to see more of Joe Biden. The gaffes are pre-installed,” he claimed. “But instead of just saying, ‘I’m fine,’ he just needs to keep attacking. He needs to keep attacking 24/7 for the next 269 days.”
