Haley slams Trump after he hit her over absence of deployed husband

Republican presidential primary candidate Nikki Haley went after her rival in the presidential race, former President Trump, over his comments about her military husband who is deployed overseas.

“Michael is sent to serve our country and that’s something you know nothing about” Haley Said in a post on Platform X, formerly known as Twitter. “A person who continues to disrespect the sacrifices of military families is not qualified to be commander in chief.”

Haley was responding to comments made by the former president at a rally in her home state on Saturday.

“Where is her husband?” Trump Said. “Oh, he’s not there, he’s not there.” What happened to her husband? What happened to her husband? where is he? he’s gone. “

Haley’s husband, Maj. Michael Haley, was deployed to Africa with the South Carolina Army National Guard last June. She said goodbye to him in mid-June at a ceremony attended by about 200 soldiers at Charleston’s War College Citadel.

“He was always my rock,” Haley said after the ceremony. “We have both lived lives of service, so when he is deployed I will fully support him. If I were to run for president, his support would be mine. I am with you.”

“We will continue to communicate as much as possible,” she added.

Haley and her husband have been married for more than 25 years, and he often attended her meetings while she was running for office. The former United Nations ambassador has frequently spoken about being a military wife, and her husband originally served in the National Guard in the mid-2000s. His first overseas assignment was during Haley’s first term as governor of the Palmetto State.
