Pro-Palestine protesters in NYC vow to be even ‘louder’ after Instagram boots anti-Israel group from its platform

Approximately 1,000 anti-Israel protesters took to the streets of Brooklyn on Saturday, claiming to be even more “vocal” about the ongoing war in Gaza. Hundreds of other protesters were reportedly standing inside the Museum of Modern Art in Midtown. new york post.

The NYPD had a police presence in the area and appeared to be trying to keep protesters on the sidewalks. But the protesters shouted:[t]“The more you try to silence us, the louder our voices will become,” they said as they made their way down Park Slope around 4 p.m.

The report said the chant appeared to hint at the group Within Our Lifetime’s permanent ban from Instagram. The group wrote to X: ”As Zionist forces continue to oppress Palestine online and on the streets, @Instagram Completely removed both WOL and WOL Chair @NedeenKiswanimain and backup accounts. There is no option to appeal or request review to restore them. But the more they try to silence us, the louder our voices will become. ”

The group’s leader, Nadeen Kiswani, is reportedly no longer active on Instagram.

She appears to have a history of overtly anti-Semitic statements.Anti-Defamation League report“On at least four occasions, Kiswani and WOL have used social media to share classic anti-Semitic tropes about Israel and ‘Zionist’ control and influence over Hollywood, sexual violence against women, politics, the media, etc. .”

• 2017: WOL Facebook post: “From occupied Palestine to Hollywood, Israel’s[sic] Dogs of war stand to profit from defending imperialism, sexual violence, and misogyny. ”
• 2016 WOL Facebook post: “When the majority of American politicians are bought by Zionists.” [sic] Robbie, the story is cheap. ”
• July 2015: On Facebook, Kiswani promoted the event as follows:It’s the same Zionist story[sic] They use their political influence to escape responsibility for hate crimes and ironically blame others for what they have done…”
• 2013: Kiswani shared the following quote on Facebook: “Despite global Zionism’s near-total control of major media conglomerates, pro-Palestinian advocates are winning the war on social media.”[sic]”

Kiswani appeared outside the Brooklyn Public Library on Saturday and said, “We cannot let the repressive forces of the NYPD or corporations like META silence us!”

The paper said large numbers of demonstrators in the area were seen carrying banners that read “We Need It”, while another called for “ceasefire now”.

Vendors in the area appeared not to be happy with the protesters, suggesting they might “go somewhere else to vent their nonsense”. The comments eventually led to an altercation, which was eventually broken up by police.
