The mother of a Kentucky mother allegedly drugged and raped at a Bahamian resort knew “something was wrong” before she received disturbing text messages revealing the alleged assault earlier this month. .

King knew something was wrong when she spoke to Dobson on FaceTime in the morning and noticed her daughter looked “a little weird.”

“A few minutes later, I logged on to Facebook and saw a video of them all over the place, just giggling and not themselves at all.”
After watching the footage, King said she called her daughter to make sure her two friends were okay and asked her how many drinks she had already had.

“It’s every parent’s worst nightmare,” Dr. King said. “Your child is in trouble, in danger, and scared. And they’re 300 miles away. I can’t go to them.”
After the incident was reported to the resort and local police, two male staff members, a 40-year-old from Southern Bahamas and a 54-year-old from Eight Mile Rock, were arrested by Royal Bahamas Police in connection with the sexual assault.
While Dobson and Shearer were on their cruise, the U.S. Embassy in the Bahamas issued a safety warning and travel advisory after 18 murders occurred in the country in January.
The furious mother reiterated her daughter’s intention to share photos of her injuries to warn others of the dangers of traveling to the Caribbean country.
