It’s golf, but is it quiet?
At least that’s what Jon Rahm hopes.
During Saturday’s final round of the LIV Golf Invitational – Las Vegas, Rahm’s caddy Adam Hayes asked fans to be quiet at the 12th tee box.
Ironically, LIV Golf prides itself on being a louder environment than traditional golf events. LIV golf tournaments feature raucous fans, parties, and music commonly heard at Las Vegas clubs.
Interestingly, many of the LIV Golf events are similar to the scene at this week’s WM Phoenix Open, where alcohol sales were discontinued due to the raucous atmosphere.
Nevertheless, Rahm seemed bothered by the noise that occurred on the 12th tee at Las Vegas Country Club on Saturday. in the video posted X by @TourPicks:
After Hayes asked him to be quiet, Rahm pulled himself together, hit a 5-iron, and turned his attention back to the crowd. At the time, Rahm appeared upset and asked fans to silence their phones.
The sight must have affected him.
Rahm pushed his tee shot on the par 3 into the greenside bunker to the right of the putting surface. He got up and down well to save par and keep his total at 10 under. However, Rahm slumped in the final stages and was unable to record a birdie on the final six holes.
Instead, Rahm bogeyed the 15th and 18th holes, dropping him to 8 under for the tournament. He shot a 1-over 71, achieving an over-par round for the first time in his LIV golf career.
Dustin Johnson won the tournament at 12 under par, beating Taylor Gooch by one stroke and winning the LIV golf event for the third time in his career.
