Patrick Mahomes joins elite company after being named Super Bowl MVP for third time

Patrick Mahomes is a three-time Super Bowl champion and three-time Super Bowl MVP.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback is currently on a fast track to joining the GOAT conversation, and in fact, he’s already in it.

Mahomes is a third-time MVP candidate and part of an elite company. He, Tom Brady (five) and Joe Montana (three) are the only players in NFL history to win the award at least three times in their careers.

In overtime, Mahomes made a tuck-and-run with four outs and first base, keeping the season alive. On third down a few plays later, he rushed for another 19 yards. He then scored a 3-yard touchdown off Mecole Hardman to win the Super Bowl.

Mahomes completed all eight of his passes in overtime.

Mahomes is currently 17-14, including the playoffs, facing a double-digit deficit and has been in a similar situation in every Super Bowl he’s played in thus far. Despite this, they have 3 wins and 1 loss in important matches.

Mahomes is only 28 years old, and he, Brady and Troy Aikman are the only players to have won three rings before turning 30.

Next year, he could become the first to win four games before going 3-0.
