A Methodist pastor in Connecticut is accused of trafficking methamphetamine from his church’s parsonage, police said.
Herbert Miller, 63, a pastor at the Woodbury United Methodist Church, was arrested Friday after police were alerted to allegations of the pastor’s moonlighting, which was reminiscent of a “Breaking Bad” plot.
A pastor resembling Walter White was arrested at the scene of an alleged drug deal set up by a cooperating witness who called police, local news outlet reports. The Waterbury Republican-American reported.
Mr. Miller was stopped by a state trooper in Woodbury and was found to be in possession of crystal methamphetamine in a hypodermic needle in rock and liquid form, ready to be injected. According to a press release from the Connecticut State Police.
Local news outlets quoted police as saying Miller would throw meth at same-sex couples in exchange for observing them having sex.
The Post was unable to independently verify that claim and has reached out to state troopers for further comment.
There is no word on how long the 63-year-old cleric has reportedly been active as a meth dealer.
The pastor was charged with drug possession with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance and use of drug paraphernalia.
Mr. Miller was released on $10,000 bail and ordered to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on February 23.
He was hired by Woodbury United Methodist Church in July. By Monday, his name had been removed from the church’s website.
Mr. Miller previously served as pastor of First United Methodist Church in Shelton.
