According to Pennsylvania State Police, the two parents abused and starved I left my 6-year-old daughter locked in a dog kennel.
On Tuesday, state police were called to the home of 37-year-old Jacob W. Waite and 33-year-old Mimi Ann Frost in Brownsville for a report of an unresponsive child.
Officers say the house was full of dog feces, trash and urine. Other children in the home told police that the parents locked the 6-year-old in a dog crate and hit him at least once with a broom.
Fayette County District Attorney Mike Ober said an investigation concluded the child was “being tortured.”
The child was malnourished and had scrapes and wounds on his body, according to the criminal complaint. A local children’s hospital reported that she had “numerous medical and dental problems” and that “she had not received pediatric treatment in years.”
The girl told the therapist that she was forced to sleep in the dog’s crate every night and was also forced to eat dog food.
“One of the worst parts is that there were five other children and 10 dogs in the house, and none of the children were malnourished,” Ober said. Go to WTAE-TV.
“A 6-year-old child was left in this cage naked with no food. If he managed to escape from that cage to get food, he would be punished. And to make matters worse, these It is possible that at least some of the children, along with their parents, participated in the abuse.”
“Certainly they seem to have been brought up with the idea that this girl is like this, and that in itself is frightening,” Ober added.
He said the girl was lucky to be alive.
“This girl has been through a lot, and it is only by the grace of God that she was able to survive the torture she endured,” Orbel concluded.
Waite and Frost face numerous charges, including unlawful restraint of a minor, aggravated assault and child neglect.
