A Washington, D.C., police officer was shot in the face while attempting to arrest him on animal cruelty charges, and a standoff continued Wednesday afternoon.
At 7:30am on Wednesday morning, officers from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Detective Division joined members of the Humane Rescue League to execute an arrest warrant for suspected animal cruelty at a residence. Southeast Neighborhoods of our nation’s capital.
Officers knocked on the door and asked the male suspect to leave the residence. The man reportedly refused to comply and opened fire, wounding three police officers before barricading himself inside.
