Tiger Woods’ return to the PGA Tour was short-lived and terrifying.
The 48-year-old returned to the course on Thursday for his first official event since the Masters in April.
But on Friday, he called it quits.
Woods was competing in the Genesis Invitational in Riviera, but withdrew during the second round due to illness.

An ambulance and at least one fire truck were seen outside Riviera’s clubhouse, but it’s unclear if they were meant for Woods. The ambulance left the golf course without anyone inside, according to several people at the course.
Since his traffic accident in 2021, he has played in six PGA Tour events, withdrawing three times and missing the cut once.

But it’s now 2024, and it’s becoming increasingly difficult for Woods to compete.
Prior to the tournament, Woods said he was on the winning course but felt visibly uncomfortable all day.

Woods was outside the expected cut line of 2-over even par when he withdrew. He started the day with a birdie on the first par-5, but bogeyed two of the last three holes and hung up the bag after six holes. He teed off at No. 7 but couldn’t go anymore.

Then Woods golf cart clubhouse. Sky Sports reported that Woods was concerned about his stomach.
The 15-time major champion cruised through the first round, posting even par on the 17th hole before hitting a scary shank on the 18th to end the day with a bogey.

Woods said his back “popped” on the final hole of the first round, which led to a shank.
At the time of publication, Patrick Cantlay’s 11-under led the tournament by three strokes.
