Gina Weingart, 37, and Emerson Weingart, 33, were killed in the shooting around 12:10 a.m. on February 1, police said. The suspect was taken into custody by the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office three days later in the custody of the Department of Corrections, police said.

The man told police the motive for the shooting was robbery and that he took between $120 and $140 from an open safe.

The only customer in the bar at the time told police that the suspect entered the bar and played on a gaming machine for about 30 minutes before brandishing a handgun. Police said the witness said the man fled out the back door when he fired at Gina Weingart, and managed to escape the gunfire as he fled.
