Old Man Winter is nibbling on the Big Apple.
New York City could see up to 4 inches of snow overnight Friday into Saturday, days after last year’s winter storm passed through the region.
The fast-moving low pressure system is expected to start as a storm and arrive around midnight before intensifying snowfall.
Snow could fall at a rate of 0.5 inch to 1 inch per hour in some locations between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m., the National Weather Service said.
The NWS said the five boroughs could see 2 to 4 inches of rain before the storm subsides by noon Saturday.
“Multiple snow showers were always a possibility this week,” Fox News meteorologist Samantha Thomas said after Tuesday’s snowstorm, which dumped about 4 inches of snow on the city.
“We’ve seen a slight increase in the total over the past few days,” Thomas noted.
Friday’s system is moving a little further south than Tuesday’s. Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and Baltimore are all expected to see snow.
The NWS warned that roads could be covered in snow and visibility could be dangerous for travelers as low as a half-mile to a mile.
Fortunately, the storm will come and go soon.
“We’ll still see some lingering snow showers during the day and the possibility of a few snow flurries here and there, but most of it will fall overnight and many people will wake up tomorrow morning to see snow,” Thomas said. I’m going to do it,” he said.
Temperatures are expected to plummet Saturday night, with wind chills in the low teens Sunday morning, followed by warmer weather later in the week, he said.
