Shaq gives retirement advice to Jason Kelce: ‘Don’t be an idiot like me’

Jason Kelce is considering retirement again.

It looks like the Philadelphia Eagles center is close to hanging up his cleats.

After losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Wild Card Playoffs, reports emerged that he told teammates his career was over.

An emotional Kelce denied the rumors on a podcast he shares with his brother Travis, but it’s no secret that the end of his career is on his mind.

In a documentary about his life released on Amazon Prime Video last year, Kelce asked former teammates and other Eagles legends for retirement advice. Last week, he spoke with Shaquille O’Neal on the NBA Legends podcast.

Shaq retired in 2011, admitting that he had ruined his family life and was a “serial cheater.” He and his wife have five children, but divorced the same year he retired. He tells Kelce not to follow his lead.

“My advice to you is, if you’re going to retire, take it and enjoy your family, brother,” O’Neill said. Attentive Kelce. “I lost my family and made a lot of stupid mistakes where I didn’t have anyone.

The Eagles selected Kelce in the sixth round of the 2011 draft. He started his career when Andy Reid was the head coach, played through the Chip Kelly and Doug Pederson eras, and appears to be finishing his career under Nick Sirianni.
