Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Nick Allegretti revealed Friday that he played through Super Bowl III with a serious injury as the team was already dealing with injured players.
Allegretti started the Super Bowl at guard in place of Joe Souney. He told “The Jim Rome Show” that he suffered the injury when San Francisco 49ers star Nick Bosa tackled him in the arm in the second quarter.
“I had never had an injury like that before,” Allegretti said on the show. “I knew right away. I heard a crackle, I felt it, and with minimal knowledge of anatomy, I knew something was wrong with my elbow. Because it shouldn’t bend.”
