The New York Rangers’ miraculous comeback in the Stadium Series against the New York Islanders ended with Artemi Panarin’s goal just as the puck dropped in overtime at MetLife Stadium.
However, Panarin’s goal will be talked about all week after the controversial ending.
After the Rangers scored two points and the Islanders added one to tie the score at 5 in the third period, Panarin took a saucer pass from Isles defenseman Noah Dobson when the referees dropped the puck in overtime. He stopped and grabbed a great opportunity. Look at the internet and end it clearly.

Islanders goaltender Ilya Sorokin tried to step out of the crease to stop Panarin, but once leathered the puck, it turned back to Panarin who clearly saw the string.
However, when trying to shoot the puck, Dobson tried to slide in front of the net in despair as Sorokin lost his balance. In doing so, Dobson knocked his right post off the ice and the net started moving.
In the process, Panarin shot the puck and it cracked the goal line. So, as the Rangers celebrated and the Rangers fans in the MetLife crowd started cheering, the referees called it a good goal.

Normally, when the net comes loose from its bearings, it immediately stops playing and returns to its original position.
But in this case, it was ruled that Panarin was attempting to shoot the puck before the net moved. According to NHL rules, this is a good goal.

“Well, I think this goal is going to be important,” former NHL referee Dave Jackson said on the ESPN broadcast. “That’s because the player was trying to shoot the puck. The net was deflected by the defense. It doesn’t matter whether it was intentional or accidental. It was the defense that deflected the net, and the player was in.” At the moment of the shot, the puck passed between the goalposts where they should have been. ”
The goal, Panarin’s 32nd of the season, gave the Russian star three points for the game. He assisted two other goals with this goal. One of those was a power-play goal by Chris Kreider that brought the Rangers within one point in the third period. Mika Zibanejad tied it again on the power play with 90 seconds left.
The Blueshirts are 36-16-3 this season, extending their winning streak to seven games.
The Islanders, on the other hand, won’t want to squander the 4-1 lead they gained early in the second period after defeating the Rangers 3-1 in the first period.
