Colorado university dorm murder suspect ‘still poses a threat’: Prosecutor

Nicholas Jordan bowed his head, uttered a few words and had a gun in his car during his first court appearance after prosecutors told a judge that he “remains a threat to the public.” He was arrested.

Jordan, 25, from Detroit, college student. in colorado In Colorado Springs, he allegedly shot and killed former roommates Samuel Knopp, 24, and Celie Montgomery, 26, in Knopp’s dorm room on Friday.

“The defendant has no ties to this state…There is evidence that he has since attempted to flee the state,” prosecutors said during a court hearing Tuesday. “He remains a threat to witnesses, others on the UCCS campus, and the public.”

The judge sided with prosecutors and changed Jordan’s original $1 million bond to a $5 million cash bond.

Jordan’s attorney, Nick Rogers, told the judge that Jordan had not even seen the affidavit. “The defense is in a disadvantageous position at this point,” the public defender said.

He also said he had filed five motions on Jordan’s behalf, but did not provide details.

As both sides argued over bond, Jordan remained silent except when the presiding judge asked for his name for the record.

“Mr. Jordan,” he answered, turning to his lawyer.

The release of public documents such as affidavits will be addressed at the next court appearance scheduled for February 24th.

According to multiple reports, Mr. Knopf was Mr. Jordan’s roommate. Montgomery, a mother of two, was not enrolled in college. Her relationship with Knopf and/or Jordan is unknown at this time.

Jordan is being held on a warrant for murder and will return to the El Paso County Jail on an increased bond.

He did not make a statement at Tuesday’s court appearance.

On Friday, around 6 a.m. local time, gunshots rang out in Colorado Springs’ upperclassman dormitory called Alpine Village Apartments.

Corresponding staff Knopp and Montgomery were found dead in their dorm room, sparking an hours-long campus lockdown as law enforcement searched for the possible shooter.

According to dispatch audio obtained by Fox News Digital, first responders were unsure how stable the scene was or whether the gunman was still roaming the campus. It was revealed.

An investigation implicated Jordan in the crime, and police secured a warrant for his arrest by Friday night. Detectives searched for him over the weekend, but his name was not released until Monday evening.

The man remained at large for most of the day Monday, and police remained tight-lipped about the shooting, but reiterated it was an “isolated incident.”

Jordan was spotted by the Colorado Springs Police Auto Theft Unit shortly before 8 a.m. Monday, and a tactical team arrested him about 30 minutes later, police said on Twitter.
