Elly De La Cruz smashes Hunter Greene’s car window with foul ball

Foul balls rarely come back and hurt pitchers, but Hunter Greene was feeling the pain Tuesday.

During a live batting practice session in Arizona on Tuesday afternoon, the 24-year-old Green was on the mound and pitching to Elie Delacruz when the budding infielder hit a liner foul. It clipped and broke one of the pitcher’s car windows.

Photos and videos of the SUV posted on social media showed the driver’s side rear window shattered into pieces the size of baseballs.

“You’re paying for it!” Green said after the damage. According to Fox 19.

“You make more money than me,” Dela Cruz fired back at the $53 million pitcher. According to reporter Mike Petraglia.

Green posted a photo of herself and Dela Cruz on her Instagram Story with the caption, “You better have @safelite on speed dial.”

The 2017 No. 2 overall draft pick later posted a video of the damage and wrote, “For those who are wondering, this is reality.”

The reality is that the Reds are also hoping they can build on last season’s strong performance, when they finished 82-80 and just missed the National League wild-card spot.

Green and Cruz will be two of the cogs that get Cincinnati back to the postseason for the first time since the shortened 2020 season.

Green has a 4.62 ERA in his first two MLB seasons, but he has one of the best fastballs in the game. Average speed: 98 mph Since entering the major leagues, he has contributed to making over 30 percent of the batters he faced whiff.

Dela Cruz came off a great start to his rookie season last year, hitting for the cycle in just the 15th game of his career.

The 22-year-old has thrilled fans with his five-tool ability, even stealing three bases in one inning last season, including home.

However, he struggled in the final stages, hitting .191 in his final 68 games.

Now, the Reds are hoping for another breakout.
