Remington CEO Cites ‘Legislative Environment’ as Company Exits New York

Remington is leaving New York, and CEO Ken Darcy said the direction of the bill in the Empire State is cause for concern.

Associated Press (AP) I got it. Darcy said he used the news release to suggest that New York’s “legal environment” has implications for the firearms industry as a whole.

The pending closure of Remington’s Ilion, New York factory, which opened in 1828, marks the end of generations of New Yorkers working for the American firearms manufacturer.

Jim Conover started working at the Ilion plant in 1964 and continued to work at Remington for the next 40 years. “When Remington leaves, it won’t be like the facility leaving, it’ll be like part of his family moving out,” he said of the pending closure.

On December 1, 2023, Breitbart News reported that Remington is closing its Ilion factory, with an expected closure date of early March 2024.

news channel 2 I got it. New York State Sen. Joseph Griffo (R), Rep. Brian Miller (R), and Rep. Robert Smullen (R) released a joint statement in response to the announced closures. The statement read:

Remington’s reported decision to close its Ilion plant next year is concerning and disappointing. The facility is funded by the government and employs many local residents. Unfortunately, as we have seen time and time again in New York, burdensome regulations, crippling taxes, and questionable energy and other policies continue to force businesses and businesses to flee the state and create jobs. and livelihoods are being taken away. The company continues to communicate with state and federal authorities to provide support and assistance to its employees and their families during this difficult time.

In addition to all the regulations and taxes, New York state has extremely strict gun laws, and Everytown, a gun safety organization affiliated with Mike Bloomberg, says: rank It is the second-highest state in the nation when it comes to gun control laws.

These gun regulations include a ban on “assault weapons,” a ban on “high-capacity” magazines, universal background checks, red flag laws, gun storage requirements, “ghost gun” regulations, and microstamping requirements on new handguns. , including a ban on gun possession. Universities and K-12 campuses are armed for self-defense and classroom protection, and there are strict open carry regulations.
