The United States has told the World Court that it cannot order the immediate withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip and parts of the West Bank without taking into account Israel’s security needs.

On Wednesday, the International Court of Justice began hearing arguments from 52 countries and three international organizations.
This is the largest number of parties participating in a single global trial. The hearing is scheduled to last six days.
The US State Department’s acting general counsel said security considerations must be considered when seeking Israel’s withdrawal.
“Any move toward Israel’s withdrawal from the West Bank and Gaza must take into account Israel’s very real security needs,” Richard Visek, the State Department’s deputy general counsel, said in a court hearing. said.
