Carton also said that the team is trying to resolve issues and is interested in whether the high-profile players will remain with the team next season.

“And the quote in the email that came back was, ‘Nothing like that S-word happened.’ And that qualifies as a report. You can say whatever you want to say, and it clicks And I think people are looking for reasons why the season went south. And I think they lost badly to the Niners at home and the season fell apart and they never got back up. It’s injuries. It was the chemistry, it was the confidence. There was momentum. It was everything.”

The Eagles started the season 10-1, but lost five of six games and were humiliated by the Buccaneers in the wild card round, 32-9.

But Mr. Carton told the Post that the reason for the collapse was deeper than that and questioned how Mr. Schefter was able to confirm or deny his reporting.

“What on earth are the Eagles denying, considering I didn’t address the situation?” said Carton, a former WFAN host.

“I don’t know what the Eagles are denying. Just because a team denies something and says it didn’t happen, should we believe them?”

“It’s funny that this has become such a big issue. When Adam called Howie Roseman, what did he hear in relation to what I said? I was particular about not revealing what I knew to be true. So, what is ‘Total S’ and what is being denied?”
