Has he seen the show?
Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff on Monday likened the past three years of his life with Vice President Kamala Harris to the absurdities played out on the political satire show “Veep.”
Emhoff, 59, offered a revealing glimpse into her White House experience when asked by “What Happens Live” host Andy Cohen if she had seen the award-winning HBO comedy.
“Do you watch ‘Veep’?” Cohen asked Emhoff..
To this, the second gentleman replied, “We are living in the moment.”
“Veep” depicts the life of fictional Vice President Selina Meyer, played by actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
In the show, Meyer fumbles his way to power, eventually becoming president despite (spoiler alert) frequent gaffes, impulsive behavior, and being easily angered.
Like Harris, Meyer is the country’s first female vice president, and her character’s troubling tendencies include: often compared Harris biased by fans of the show.
Meyer’s speech is complex and often incomprehensible. has been likened to Mr. Harris’ frequent word salad remarks.
Mr. Emhoff was also asked by Mr. Cohen whether he and his wife had ever gone on a double date with the president and his wife, Jill Biden.
“We work hard, but we are always with them,” the second gentleman answered. “It’s great to have the four of us together.”
He also mentioned that Jill Biden is his favorite former second lady.
“She’s amazing,” he said of the current first lady.
Emhoff and Jill Biden were photographed sharing an awkward kiss on the lips and holding hands at President Biden’s State of the Union address last year.
