Rory McIlroy has remained steadfast in his disapproval of LIV Golf, but has softened his stance on individuals who have taken part.
The four-time major champion initially said there should be some kind of punishment for those who defected to LIV but sought to return to the PGA Tour, but he recently backtracked on that idea.
This wasn’t the first time McIlroy changed his mind about something. He previously criticized the Ryder Cup, calling it an “exhibition,” but in 2021 he said it is “without exception” golf’s premier event.

That 180 is why McIlroy’s former agent, Andrew “Chubby” Chandler, wouldn’t be surprised if McIlroy ended up in a Saudi-backed league.

Chandler said there was a “10% chance” that McIlroy would actually join LIV.
McIlroy resigned from his position on the PGA Board in November as discussions between the PGA and PIF continued.
