True to its famous motto, EA Sports announced a deal to bring college football players into the game.
Game developers are offering 11,000 Division I players $600 for name, image and likeness rights to appear in EA Sports College Football 25. According to multiple reports.
Those who accept the agreement will also receive a free copy on their preferred platform.
“We’re very proud of what will be our largest program and probably our most expensive program,” said EA Sports’ Vice President of Business Development. Sean O’Brien told ESPN:. “And it’s a really inclusive opportunity where funding is fairly distributed across the board.”
The last time EA Sports produced an NCAA football video game was during the 2013 college football season, but the game was canceled due to concerns over player likenesses and a high-profile lawsuit.
But with the ability to pay players through NIL transactions, EA is trying to revive the popular game.
EA also announced All 134 FBS schools He’ll be in the game.
The game will be released this summer, with a full trailer and reveal expected in May.
Since the teaser trailer was released, there has been speculation about the athlete who will appear on the cover, but it has not yet been revealed.
In addition to the players being included in the game, ESPN announcers Kirk Herbstreit, Chris Fowler, David Pollack, Jesse Palmer, Kevin Connors and Rece Davis announced that they will be featured as well.
However, last year According to Pro Football Talkthe College Football Players Association urged players to reject a similar offer that would have given each player $500 to attend a game.
“All current players should boycott this contract,” CFBPA Vice President Justin Falcinelli said in June 2023. “This is an opt-in agreement and you should not opt-in.
“This is a ridiculously low amount considering the background and hype surrounding this game.”
