The humanoid robot being developed by Figure AI is called Figure 01 and is intended to mimic the appearance and behavior of real humans. Unlike today’s industrial robots, which are built for specific purposes, Figure 01 is designed to be versatile enough to complete a variety of real-world jobs and tasks.

Other technology companies are also betting on the robot startup, with Intel’s venture capital arm investing $25 million and LG Innotek investing $8.5 million. Samsung’s investment group invested $5 million.

The company’s main motivation is to enable robots to tackle dangerous tasks that are unsuitable or unsafe for human workers. This may include activities such as working in a hazardous environment, lifting heavy objects, conducting search and rescue operations, handling radioactive materials, or any high-risk scenarios. Figure AI claims its robots can also fill labor shortages by filling important but unfilled roles across industries such as manufacturing and healthcare.

Figure’s recent funding acquisition will facilitate these ambitious plans for the coming years. The influx of capital from backers such as Bezos, Nvidia and Microsoft also serves as support for Figure AI’s goals and humanoid technologies in the growing fields of robotics and artificial intelligence.

Figure AI now joins companies like Tesla, OpenAI, and Agility Robotics in developing similarly functional humanoid robots. With new cash and investor trust, Figure AI is poised to become a leader in bringing this pioneering technology to the real world.
