Stranger bashes woman with baseball bat in apparently random NYC attack: cops

Police say an unknown man hit a 25-year-old woman in the head with a baseball bat in Chelsea this month, releasing the first images of the violent man.

According to authorities, the victim was walking on 7th Avenue near West 23rd Street on February 8 around 10 p.m. when the weapon suddenly struck her.

The senseless assault left her with cuts and bruises, and she was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition, police said.

Video released late Sunday shows the assailant carrying a backpack and wandering down the street clutching a black baseball bat.

He was last seen wearing a black jacket, gray pants, a blue knit hat and gray sneakers.

He was not captured by Monday.
