Police now say former Raider Damon Arnett tried to hide a pill containing methamphetamine in his sock the night of his arrest.
Arnett was pulled over at 1:48 a.m. on January 6 in Richardson, Texas, for going 60 mph in a 45 mph zone.
Officers described Arnett as “unusually nervous and talkative” and suspected something was up. They also claim he repeatedly told them he was an NFL player.

Arnett told officers there were no drugs or weapons in the car. However, his actions aroused their suspicions and they called in a drug-sniffing dog, which indicated the presence of drugs. A subsequent search by police also found a Glock 20 handgun.
However, police found no drugs in the car. So they searched for Arnett.

A search revealed white and orange pills stuffed inside Arnett’s socks. The athlete claimed the pills were Adderall, which he was prescribed to deal with the effects of ADHD. However, officers noted that the pills appeared to have been tampered with. When officers opened the pills, they found a “white crystal-like substance” that was tested at the scene and was confirmed to be methamphetamine.
Officers then arrested Arnett, not for possession of a gun, but for possession of drugs in addition to a gun.
Lawyers representing Arnett continue to maintain that the pills contained only prescription drugs, and are continuing to speak with Richardson officials to resolve the issue.
This isn’t the only time Arnett has flouted the law. He was charged with possessing a .45-caliber handgun and threatening two hotel attendants during an argument over a parking receipt for a Mercedes SUV at the Park MGM Hotel in spring 2023.
