Former President Trump won Tuesday night’s Michigan Republican primary, winning early races and winning additional delegates, moving him one step closer to officially winning the Republican nomination.

The Associated Press predicted Trump to win the primary shortly after polls closed Tuesday night.

With his victory in Michigan, Trump now has won every primary and caucus in the 2024 Republican presidential primary cycle.

After the Super Tuesday primaries, Mr. Trump is likely to secure the Republican nomination by next week, sweeping the Iowa caucuses, scoring a resounding victory in New Hampshire, and advancing to Nevada and the U.S. Virgin Islands. He won the Islands caucus by a landslide and won South Carolina in a “bigger victory.” ” more than he expected.

Michigan Republican and Democratic voters went to the polls Tuesday to cast their votes in the state’s primary election.

Tuesday’s Republican voters are clear front-runner Trump, the only Republican candidate running for office, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Florida. He had to choose from candidates who had since dropped out, including the governor. Ron DeSantis, businessman Vivek Ramaswami, and former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson.

Sixteen delegates are at stake.

Democratic voters also had the opportunity to vote in the primary, voting for President Biden or his Democratic challengers, Representatives Dean Phillips and Marianne Williamson. These voters also had the option of casting an “uncommitted” vote.
