At least 15 people were injured when a suspected drunk driver crashed into a minivan in a chain crash involving MTA buses in Brooklyn, police said.
Police say around 4:30 p.m., a 60-year-old man drove a red 2008 Lexus RX350 south on Pennsylvania Avenue in East New York and tried to make a left turn onto Livonia Avenue when four people were inside a 2011 Honda. Collided with a minivan.
The man then crashed into a parked car, and his Lexus was skidded by an MTA B20 bus heading north on Pennsylvania Avenue, police and people familiar with the incident said.
The driver of the Lexus fled the scene, but was apprehended by police several blocks away.
According to police, the man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.No charges had been filed as of 9:30 p.m.
Police said 10 people on the bus were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. Officials said a female bus driver was among the injured.
The occupants of the minivan, a 64-year-old man, a 34-year-old woman, an 18-year-old woman, and a 3-year-old boy, were taken to Kings County Hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the Lexus also suffered minor injuries and was taken to Brookdale Hospital.
