Times have changed, so a repeat performance of such skyscraping hoodlummery is unlikely, but then Chelsea and Leeds still don’t like each other very much, and the heat and pressure is on Mauricio Pochettino and his players in the wake of last weekend’s League Cup final extra-time no-show, so nothing’s off the table. 18 minutes: Chelsea are still not at their best. Jackson rolls a simple pass wide right to Gust, or rather, to the back of him. Gust spun and was supposed to hold onto the ball, but he threw it with miscontrol. Away fans enjoyed watching him turn a simple task into a five-course meal.

12 minutes: Fernandes fired a shot from the edge of the box, but the shot went harmlessly wide to the right. Chelsea are doing everything in their power to respond.
10 minutes: Disasi’s distribution at Wembley last weekend was terrible. The same goes for tonight. It might be time to go back to basics. Chelsea tried to respond immediately to the body blow, but Sterling’s cross from the left floated harmlessly away and was converted into a goal kick. Leeds fans are now marching together quite loudly.

A simple long ball almost neutralizes Chelsea. Gilchrist is itching beneath it. Sanchez stands on the edge of the box, in no man’s land. James gets in between, but the lob misses wide to the left of the unprotected net. But it doesn’t matter. Because from the restart, Disasi makes a disastrous pass from behind. Leeds snuffle and the ball pings to Joseph who slots into it. It’s very easy. What a huge failure!
7 minutes: Madueke probes the right flank, trying to find an opening. Leeds close the ranks. Mudryk then played a deft pass down the left flank, aiming for Sterling to clear. Sterling goes for his first volley but instead takes a breath of fresh air. Goal kick.

1 minute: Gilchrist made a weak backpass to Sanchez that almost got him into James. Luckily there was enough on the ball and the keeper narrowly cleared it.
A friendly old hug was exchanged between Poch and Falke and the whistle blew for the start of the match. Chelsea get the ball rolling. In this first half, they’re kicking toward the shed.

There are many possibilities for that draw. Midlands rave between Wolves and Coventry? As the only team to never win a cup competition, does Brighton have a chance of reaching the semi-finals? Chelsea have made five changes to their starting XI for last Sunday’s League Cup final. Myhailo Mudryk, Noni Maduke, Trevo Chalobah, Alfie Gilchrist and Robert Sanchez were substituted on the bench for Conor Gallagher, Cole Palmer, Levi Colwill, Ben Chilwell and Djordje Petrovic.
Leeds also made five changes to their starting XI following last Friday’s late 3-1 win against Leicester City. Starring Liam Cooper, Connor Roberts, Jadon Anthony, Dan James, and Mateo Joseph. Glen Kamara, Crisencio Somerville and Wilfried Gnont were on the bench, while Georginio Rutter and Ilya Gruev were completely absent.

Now, Chelsea vs Leeds United in the FA Cup. There’s really only one place to go.
It’s great content, but with the usual steamy caveats about kids. Times have changed, so it’s unlikely that such high-rise villainy will take place again, but nevertheless, Chelsea and Leeds still don’t like each other very much, and following last weekend’s League Cup, Mauricio Pochettino and The players are under heat and pressure. The last overtime game was a no-show, so there’s nothing wrong with that. This has the potential to be a great FA Cup tie in the old tradition. Kick-off will be at 7:30pm GMT, with extra time and penalties awarded if necessary. It’s on!
