Google was embroiled in controversy last week after its artificial intelligence, Gemini, demonstrated an almost comical devotion to woke ideology. Multiple users have noted that the AI has a unique bias against white people, excluding them from nearly all historical context.
Gemini repeatedly portrayed the Pope, Vikings, medieval knights, American Founding Fathers, and even Nazi SS soldiers, without including any white people. When asked if whiteness should be eliminated, AI said the situation is “complicated.” Asked whether black people should be excluded, Gemini said the question was “concerning” and “toxic.”
The idea of going to a library and researching primary sources that have not been constantly monitored, censored, and altered due to the ill-conceived notions of woke mega-corporations is unfathomable.
Such intense levels of ideological malice would be alarming for any institution, but Google is in a unique position of power.
Not only is Google’s search engine the primary portal through which most people use the Internet, but the company has also invested heavily in controlling the flow of information in America’s public schools.
Google isn’t just trying to rewrite history. We are actively working to reprogram the minds of our next generation.
While most conservatives are concerned about the level of ideological subversion in Big Tech companies and public education, few understand the extent to which these sectors are aligned.
Chromebook slave
Google has been working hard to get Chromebooks into public schools. At first, it seemed like a great way for students to gain important computer skills in the modern job market, as it offered an affordable alternative to laptops. But now the device has become an essential part of the classroom.
Teachers will deliver and grade all assignments through Google Classroom. Students will create all papers in Google Docs and presentations in Google Slides. Online worksheets, quiz programs, and educational games are designed to integrate with the Google suite.
I’ve only been teaching in public schools for a few years, but I can tell you from experience that it’s amazing how addicted students are to the Google search engine. Most children have already lost the ability to read and extract information from textbooks. Students expect to be able to search for any question they have, relying on algorithms designed by the same people who programmed Gemini AI to provide answers.
Few schoolchildren bother to click on links provided by search engines and instead obtain information from the summaries provided by Google at the top of the results. The idea of going to a library and manually researching primary sources that have not been constantly monitored, censored, and altered due to the ill-conceived notions of woke mega-corporations will be incomprehensible to them. Google now controls the entire algorithmic ecosystem in which American schoolchildren learn how to collect information and determine its validity.
While the problems with Chromebook-based education are clear, skeptical teachers and administrators have been tempered by institutional pressure. Students who are constantly interacting with a screen will be unable or unable to master basic skills. Handwriting, note-taking, reading comprehension, and memory skills all suffer as children become completely dependent on technology. Students who can easily switch between dozens of browser tabs in an instant lose focus quickly.
I’ll never forget being told that I needed to pause the video every three minutes because anything longer than that would tax the students’ concentration. A school child who submits and saves all her assignments in her Google Classroom loses the ability to be organized and is unable to develop basic skills such as keeping and keeping track of needed items. There’s a whole set of important life skills that we rarely think about, but when every part of the learning experience is digitized, they’re no longer available.
weak protection
The distractions and discipline issues caused by constant use of Chromebooks also have an incredibly negative impact on classrooms. The administrator will tell you that the Chromebook has safety restrictions in place, but this is an outrageous lie. Schools full of bored kids sitting in front of computers all day can bypass the best protections faster than tech experts can take action.
result? Children often spend most of their school day watching movies, playing video games, or listening to music while teachers desperately try to keep them on task. Sadly, students regularly find ways to circumvent her Chromebooks’ weak security restrictions to take and share inappropriate photos, bully co-workers, and access pornography.
Your children’s votes will be drowned out by the millions of new voters Democrats introduce every year. They speak English only through Google Translate.
Teachers concerned about over-reliance on Google or the disciplinary issues associated with constant use of Chromebooks at least had the option of refusing to make the device the center of instruction. But when COVID-19 hit, everything changed.
With kids stuck at home and learning happening entirely through remote Zoom meetings, Chromebooks have become more essential than ever. For obvious reasons, all assignments had to be fully digital during lockdown, but nothing changed when children returned to school. Students were trained to do all their work digitally through her Google Classroom, and everyone was used to the idea that all assignments had to be available online. If a student is sick, traveling, or simply not coming to school, administrators have requested that the teacher allow her to use her Chromebook to complete all assignments.
Due to the incredible number of students who did not speak English, digital assignments also became mandatory. Many states have changed their instructional models to place non-English speaking children in regular classrooms, making greater use of digital technology to bridge the language gap. Most students learning English as a second language cannot complete assignments or communicate with their instructors without making extensive use of Google Translate. Eventually, all public school teachers were required to digitize their classrooms, with every aspect of their digital learning environment running directly through the Google ecosystem.
Worse than Gemini
Google hasn’t apologized for the Gemini debacle and promised to improve, but let’s be clear: None of this was a coincidence or a mistake. The images and answers produced by Gemini were just a more obvious version of the toxic ideology deeply coded into every aspect of Google’s algorithms.
We’re constantly swimming in the progressive sewage that permeates our culture, so it can be hard to recognize how bad things really are. Gemini was like the leftists could summon whatever little stupid demon they needed to explain away all the evil they truly believed. That demon is embedded in every aspect of the public education system and is rewriting history as we speak.
You might be tempted to simply say, “That’s why I homeschool my kids.” That is wonderful! But your children’s votes will be drowned out by the millions of new voters Democrats introduce every year. They can only speak English through Google Translate.
Google distributes its hateful fictional history to tens of millions of public school students, making billions of dollars from American taxpayers as a result. The forced digitization of learning is also destroying children’s ability to read, write, stay focused, build organizational skills, and conduct basic research.
This powerful technology company has already shaped the way most people interact with information on the internet and is investing heavily to change how the next generation learns. If we do not drive this ideological demon out of our educational institutions now, he will own the way our children understand truth for generations to come.
