Blue Jays pitcher Eric Swanson has some good news about his son.
Swanson’s 4-year-old son, Toby, was hit by a car on Sunday and is currently out of the pediatric intensive care unit, the reliever’s wife, Madison, wrote on Instagram Wednesday night.
“I have no words. I don’t know where to start,” she wrote on her Instagram Story. “We have been overwhelmed with so much love and support over the past few days. To those who have reached out in any way, we can never express in words how meaningful it has been. We don’t have the mental capacity to reach out to you all, but we see you, we hear you, it’s what it is to help our little son with this. Did it get you through everything?
“The most important update is that Toby is out of the PICU and we continue to treat him day by day. God is so good and we are so blessed @swannypops.”

Madison also thanked those who helped care for Toby after he was airlifted to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida, in critical condition following the horrific incident.
“We are so grateful to the first responders who responded to the accident, the pedestrians who helped us as we waited for next steps, and the wonderful staff at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital who truly looked after my little boy. I am.”
According to Canadian PressTobey was struck by a 2024 Ford Expedition Sunday near Opal Sands Resort.
The driver of the vehicle cooperated with authorities, the report said.
Swanson left spring training camp in Dunedin, and manager John Schneider had nothing but words of support for Swanson.
“Family comes first,” Schneider said. “Our love, support and prayers are with Eric, Madison, Toby and the entire Swanson family.”
Swanson joined the Blue Jays last season in the trade that sent Teoscar Hernandez to the Mariners and enjoyed success in his first season north of the border.
The right-handed pitcher had a 2.97 ERA, 1.095 WHIP, and 75 strikeouts in 66/3 innings.
