Three in five voters, and even one in two Democrats, told pollsters that Border Commissioner Alejandro Mayorkas has refused to enforce border laws that are widespread among Americans. He answered that it was right to impeach him.
The February 21-22 Harvard CAPS poll asked 2,022 voters, “I support Congressional Republicans in impeaching Secretary of Homeland Security Mayorkas for willfully failing to enforce immigration laws and secure our borders.” Or do you object?” he asked.
Impeachment was approved by 48% of Democrats, 54% of independents, and 81% of Republicans.
The poll also asked, “Do you think Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas and his department are adequately or intentionally failing to enforce border security and immigration laws?”
Fifty-seven percent said “no,” including 33% of Democrats, 61% of independents, and 78% of Republicans.
The poll is consistent with other polling data showing growing public hostility toward President Joe Biden’s policies.
Mr. Mayorkas is known for his immigrant parents, his sympathy for immigrants, his support for “equality” between Americans and foreigners, his willingness to put his own priorities above the law, and his support for American companies’ advocacy. He has repeatedly explained that he supports further migration because of “needs.” .
he has that opinion no matter what cost Harm to ordinary Americans, harm to American children, or reasonable objections of ordinary Americans.
Must see: Damn @GOP Video documenting the “unfolding” of Biden’s “lies” about the crisis at the southern border. https://t.co/Dzb2E2XL8g

Mayorkas was impeached on February 13 amid ridicule from pro-immigration Democrats and their media allies.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) has not sent a formal complaint to the Senate, in part because he wants to fend off expected arguments from Democratic senators that there is no time for an impeachment trial. Mr Johnson is likely to send the documents once the 2024 budget dispute is resolved.
Pro-immigration Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has not indicated he would support an impeachment trial in the Senate.
