A sergeant at a juvenile detention center in Florida has been arrested after he allegedly wrote a letter to an underage inmate in which he had sexual “fantasies” about being with the victim.
Caitlin Gomez, 27, worked as a sergeant at the Pinellas Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Clearwater, Florida. However, Gomez was fired after an alleged sex scandal with a 16-year-old inmate surfaced.
Gomez was arrested Wednesday by detectives with the Children’s Crimes Unit and charged with solicitation of a child to engage in sexual violence by a family member or custodian.
According to reports, authorities were alerted to the alleged inappropriate relationship after 10 sexually explicit letters written by Gomez were discovered in the cell of a 16-year-old inmate at the detention center.
In a letter hidden under an inmate’s bed, Gomez allegedly “fantasized” about having sexual relations with a minor.
