Anthony Kim put together his best round on the course since returning to professional golf this weekend, but still finished in last place in his first LIV golf event.

Kim finished 16 over par last weekend in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, 32 strokes behind tournament winner Joaquin Niemann.

Kim, a former PGA Tour phenom who has been out of competition for more than a decade, posted a 4-over round on Sunday, which was better than the 7-over rounds he posted on Friday and Saturday. He finished at even par for the final 14 holes on Sunday, which some may see as good progress.

However, in his first tournament match in a while, Kim made good on a brutal start to LIV Golf.

“Obviously it’s been a tough week,” Kim said, according to Yahoo Sports. He said, “I am excited to be playing professional golf again and feel very fortunate to have this opportunity.”

Anthony Kim, golf star who disappeared from PGA Tour, plans to return to professional golf: Report

Kim’s return to professional golf caused a stir when ESPN initially reported his return. However, some took exception to his choice of LIV Golf over the PGA Tour, which was a fan favorite.

Kim competed on the PGA Tour for four seasons and was almost always near the top of the leaderboard. He finished third at the 2010 Masters and tied for fifth at the British Open the following year.

But his most memorable performance was in the 2008 Ryder Cup as a rookie with the team, starting the tournament with a dominant 5&4 match play victory over Spain’s Sergio Garcia. In the end, America won against Europe.

Kim has three wins on the PGA Tour, but an injury ultimately sidelined her from the game in 2012.

It’s been a long time since Kim was once ranked No. 6 in the world with the Lynx, but he’s taking advantage of this opportunity with LIV and is a wild card who will play as an individual rather than a team for the rest of his time. Season to return.

“I’m definitely hitting the ball well and doing a lot of things well. I know the score doesn’t reflect that,” he said.
