Michigan Wolverines football legend Braylon Edwards, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft, helped an elderly man who was assaulted in the locker room.
The incident occurred in Farmington Hills, Michigan, where Edwards witnessed an 80-year-old man being assaulted by a 25-year-old man at the Farmington Family YMCA on March 1, according to WDIV-TV. That’s what it means.
Mr. Edwards described a scenario that would put him into immediate action.

“When I get off work and go into the locker room, I can basically hear people about four rows behind me arguing about the music and how loud it was being played,” Edwards explained. . “So I wasn’t paying attention and was just minding my own business.
“You can tell what a fight sounds like because the noise escalates and you hear pushing and shoving, but when you hear the thud, that’s when you get up and turn around.”

Officials told WDIV-TV that a 25-year-old man punched an 80-year-old man before Edwards entered the situation.
“What I thought was a man reaching under the victim for the phone, grabbing the victim by the hair on the back of his head and trying to slam him against the counter,” Edwards said.
“I didn’t know it was that serious. I mean, the victim probably had a severe concussion essentially, but I didn’t know that until I talked to Detective Jacobs in Farmington. If not, the detective said, “I’ll try to intervene, but at the end of the day, that’s what you do.” ”

The assailant fled the YMCA on foot but was eventually arrested by authorities. ClickOnDetroit said he remains in custody after his arrest.
Edwards, an All-American and 2004 Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, holds the Wolverines’ record for receiving yards with 3,613 in his four-year career. In his senior season, he caught 15 of his 39 career touchdowns and had a career-high 1,391 receiving yards.
Edwards was ultimately drafted third overall by the Cleveland Browns, where he played five seasons, throwing for 3,697 yards and 28 touchdowns.
However, he did have one 1,000-yard season in his career, with 1,289 yards in 2007, earning him his only Pro Bowl. Edwards played three seasons with the New York Jets and one year with the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks.

But regardless of his career accolades and highlights, Edwards quickly became a Good Samaritan in his community, with officials noting that he saved the lives of others.
