Jaguars cut Foley Fatukasi after wishing him happy birthday

What was supposed to be a sweet post by the Jaguars on a player’s birthday turned into a hilariously cold moment when the player was released hours later.

Foley Fatukasi was released by Jacksonville on Monday, about four and a half hours after the Jags posted a birthday wish on their X account, which drew a lot of response from fans, according to multiple reports.

Fatusaski, who played six seasons in the NFL, including his first four with the Jets, is now 29 years old.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports. Defensive tackle was cut, and the move would save the Jaguars $3.5 million on the salary cap.

He did not acknowledge the news in any posts he posted to his Instagram Stories throughout the day.

“To cut him off on his birthday is outrageous.” Written by user X React to Jaguars’ post.

As of this writing, the last message the team posted to X remained a happy birthday message.

“No, there’s no way I posted it knowing it would be cut off in two hours.” written by another person There are two crying laughing emojis at the end.

“Well, you all made it memorable for him. So, well done?!” A third party commented.

Unfortunately for Fatusaski, this decision was not a surprise as he has struggled with the Jaguars over the past few seasons.

Fatusaski, who signed a three-year, $30 million contract in 2022, was expected to play a key role on Jacksonville’s defensive line, but he only recorded 48 tackles in 30 games with the Jags. He only had 1.5 sacks.

Cap space will be important for the Jaguars this offseason, as the team needs to re-sign edge Josh Allen and star receiver Calvin Ridley.

Before the move to release Fatukashi, the Jaguars had $25.7 million in cap space.

It is no exaggeration to say that it will be an unforgettable birthday for him.
