Mr. Liv Golf The years-long battle to earn world ranking points appears to be over, with CEO and commissioner Greg Norman informing players on Tuesday that the league has withdrawn its application.
The Saudi-backed rival golf league first applied. Official World Golf Ranking A bid was scheduled to go to the board in July 2022, but the bid was rejected this October.

OWGR Chairman Peter Dawson said at the time: “It is unfortunate that no way could be found to include LIV Golf in the rankings that is fair and equitable to the 24 tours currently covered and their thousands of playing members.” Stated.

“We will continue to review this issue and OWGR will continue to monitor developments in men’s professional golf in general and LIV in particular.”
But in a letter to players this week, Norman hit back at OWGR.
“It is clear that the best path forward for LIV as a league, and for you as LIV golfers, is not through the current ranking system,” Norman wrote via ESPN.

Anthony Kim chose LIV Golf instead of the PGA Tour for his long-awaited return, finishing last in his first tournament.
“There is no longer a resolution to protect the accuracy, reliability and integrity of the OWGR rankings. We will fight for you and go to great lengths to ensure your achievements are recognized within the existing ranking system. Unfortunately, OWGR has shown little desire to work productively with us. ”
OWGR said the application was rejected in part due to concerns about the format and player pathway.

Dawson told The Associated Press in October that the denial was strictly “technical.”

“We are not at war with them,” he said. “This decision to disqualify them is not political; it is purely technical. It is self-evident that the LIV players are good enough to be ranked. They just don’t play in a format that allows them to be ranked fairly against the other 24 tours that have thousands of players trying to compete on them. ”
