Republican bill would throw Missouri teachers who transition students on sex offender registry

Policies in place In various schools across the country, educators and administrators are prevented from informing parents that their children are undergoing so-called transfers at the school. In many cases, teachers and staff are actually encouraged to covertly help confused students pass themselves off as members of the opposite sex.

Missouri could soon do things very differently.

Republican state Rep. Jamie Gragg and several other members of Congress want to place children on the sex offender registry rather than have educators cover children who change their gender behind their parents’ backs.

Introduced by Mr. Gragg of Christian County.
House Bill 2885 last month. Since then, the bill has Co-host Republican Sens. Jeff Farnan, Hannah Kelly and Brian Seitz would amend the state’s sex offender registry law to introduce penalties for “contributing to transition.”

“Social transition” is defined in the law as follows: “When an individual acquires a gender, such as a name, pronouns, and clothing or hairstyle, that is consistent with the individual’s gender identity rather than the gender assumed by the individual at that time. The process of adopting expressions was born. ”

Under the proposed law, a teacher or school counselor acting in an official capacity who “provides assistance, whether material, informational, or other resources to a child with respect to social transition,” would be required to He could be charged with a Class E felony.

In Missouri, if convicted of a Class E felony, violators can be fined up to $10,000 and sentenced to four years in prison.

Convicted offenders against transitioning students will be required to register as sex offenders. Despite being classified as the lowest tier, criminals are required to report annually to the top law enforcement officer.

Currently, Missouri
bar Most sex offenders will roam within 500 feet of a school if there is one or more minors present. Approaching or coming into contact with children near children’s home buildings. Intentionally present within or loitering within 500 feet of public park or playground equipment. Intentionally coaching a sports team of minors. Therefore, a conviction under this proposed law would likely represent the end of an offender’s career in education.

Said KYTV-TV, “This bill was created and was actually introduced to help parents and families and to help teachers. We talk about it every day.”

“I think the vast majority of teachers in our state and across our country are doing a great job, a great job,” Gragg said. “this [bill] It is about putting the social learning development of children back into the hands of parents. ”

In a statement to Newsweek, the Republican Party said, “Education begins at home. It’s time for the few liberal activists who have infiltrated our education system to stop interfering in the relationship between parents and children. We need teachers to , those who spend their lives developing and preparing children for the world can focus on teaching, and HB 2885 will do just that.”

LGBT activists have denounced a Republican proposal to protect children from grooming efforts at school.

Aaron Shekora, executive director of the GLO Center, an LGBT activist group in Springfield, told KYTV that HB 2885 is “just one in a long line of bills aimed at inciting hatred and violence against the gay community.” No,” he suggested. It comes from a source that, frankly, has bullied many marginalized groups in our state. ”

called The bill is “insane”.

I got it. “While it is unlikely that a bill like this would pass, even in Missouri, it is rare for a ‘new’ anti-trans bill that has never been written before to be introduced, so it’s important to keep an eye on it.” He added: “And I wouldn’t be surprised if a more fascist, right-wing, anti-trans government were to win.”
