Knicks get good news on Jalen Brunson’s knee injury

Jalen Brunson was unable to play Tuesday night, but the All-Star point guard’s medical update was as expected.

Brunson left early in Sunday’s game against Cleveland with what appeared to be a serious knee injury, which was later diagnosed as a left knee contusion.

The Knicks announced after the game that Brunson’s X-ray results were negative, and coach Tom Thibodeau added Tuesday that an MRI scan also showed no abnormalities.

“He’s getting better, but he’s not there yet,” Thibodeau said before Tuesday’s game against the Hawks, who will be without All-Star point guard Trae Young, who had surgery on his left hand last week. .

The signing of veteran guard Shake Milton also became official after he cleared waivers following a buyout by the Pistons on Tuesday, making him available for the game against the Hawks, Thibodeau added.

Miles McBride played over 47 minutes Sunday night when Brunson left.
