Things are heating up ahead of the NHL trade deadline.
The Flames will trade Noah Hanifin to the Golden Knights in a deal that was broken by official Elliott Friedman on the NHL’s TNT pregame show on Wednesday night.
TSN’s Darren Dreger reports. The Flames will reportedly acquire defenseman Daniil Milanov as part of the deal.
The person added that Las Vegas is trying to finalize a contract extension with Hanifin. Friedman added: X said the extension was not an “immediate part of this transaction.”
Hanifin, 27, will become a free agent after this season when the six-year contract he signed in 2018 expires.
The defenseman, considered one of the top players available at this year’s deadline, has 11 goals and 35 points in 61 games with Calgary this season.
Hanifin has been linked to multiple teams, including the Lightning, who are scheduled to play the Flames in Tampa on Thursday night.
The 27-year-old has also been linked to the Panthers and Bruins in recent days, with one source saying his preference was to be traded to a team that would give him a long-term contract. “Canada Hockey Night” Report Over the weekend.

The move by Vegas is the second trade in the days leading up to the deadline, after acquiring forward Anthony Mantha from the Capitals on Tuesday.
