The same week, two projectiles, believed to be World War II-era shipments, were discovered in the Charles River in Massachusetts, according to Massachusetts State Police.
Both were discovered by magnet fishing under the Kendrick Bridge in Needham, Massachusetts.
In a statement provided to Fox News Digital, “At approximately 1 p.m. today, Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad members were arrested after a magnet fisherman pulled another deteriorating munitions from the Charles River. Two people responded to Needham.”

“The object was determined to be an old, severely degraded bazooka, possibly from the World War II era.”
Massachusetts State Police bomb squad members responded to the scene out of an “abundance of caution” and carried the bazooka to a safe location, where it was struck by fire.

The first weapon found in Needham last week may be even older, according to Massachusetts State Police, who said, “Last week, a magnet fisherman discovered what appeared to be from either World War I or World War II era. A degraded projectile was pulled from the same area” River. ”
It remains to be determined why these 20th century projectiles are still being found in the Charles River. Some local magnet fishermen have shared anecdotes that projectiles may have fallen from cargo loaded into the river during World War II.
