The Humane Society of Tampa Bay reports that a 14-year-old dog has been reunited with its owner 10 years after he ran away, and thanks to a microchip he was able to find a happy ending.
“When a 14-year-old Cockapoo showed up at HSTB as a stray dog, we expected a happy ending where she would be reunited with her owner, but we never expected the joy her story would bring! Her micro Chip led the team to Luisa. She was in disbelief when we called her, because Cleo (that was her name we learned) had run away ten years earlier. They never lost hope and continued to update her microchip with the slight hope that they would be reunited after moving to Miami! They drove up to get her back on Saturday. and we couldn’t be happier for them,” the group said on Facebook. post. “This shows the power and importance of microchips and to never lose hope.”
Someone left a comment on the post, questioning the possibility that the dog found a new owner over the course of 10 years.
“We are happy that she was reunited with her dog owners, but we also suspect that she may have been with other families during those 10 years.
