Kyrie Kelce is “extremely proud” of her husband, Jason Kelce, who announced his NFL retirement on Monday after an “honoured 13-year career” with the Eagles.
On Thursday, the mother of three took to Instagram to share a tender photo of the couple celebrating Philadelphia’s win over New England in Super Bowl II in February 2018, giving her longtime center posted a heartfelt tribute.
“I pulled this out of the archives to congratulate this player on his retirement,” Kyrie began. “Your honor was scattered over 13 years [sic] Your career is a direct result of your hard work, determination, and resilience.
“I’m so proud to be your wife and can’t wait to see what you do next. As always, the girls and I will support you every step of the way. I support the steps!”
A sixth-round pick by Cincinnati in 2011, Kelce spent his entire career in Philadelphia, earning seven Pro Bowl selections and six First-Team All-Pro selections.
The future Hall of Famer made it to the Super Bowl last year, but lost 38-35 to his brother, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, in a thrilling game between Philadelphia and Kansas City.
Kelce, 36, was at the center of retirement talk after the Eagles’ humiliating loss to the Buccaneers in the playoffs in January.
He said on a January episode of the New Heights podcast: It meant a lot to me and it led to my career. ”
That moment came on Monday with an emotional press conference attended by Kylie, her parents Ed and Donna Kelsey, and her brother Travis, 34.
Kylie, who shares daughters Wyatt, 4, Elliott, 3, and Bennett, 1, with Kelce, kissed her husband after he gave a tearful speech.
Kelsey and Kylie married in 2018.
