The Florida-based NXXT Women’s Pro Tour has updated its policy to allow only biological women to compete and ban transgender players from participating in events.

The change in policy comes on the heels of transgender golfer Haley Davidson’s recent win at the NXXT Women’s Classic.
NXXT GOLF CEO Stuart McKinnon said the new policy was a “vital” step in maintaining “the competitive integrity that is the foundation of women’s sport”.

“Our revised policy reflects our unwavering commitment to celebrating and protecting the achievements and opportunities of female athletes. Protected categories are fundamental aspects of sport at all levels, and biological McKinnon added: “It is essential to our tour to maintain a gender-neutral category and ensure a level playing field for women.”
“Effective immediately, competitors must be biologically female at birth to participate,” the NXXT Women’s Pro Tour said in a press release. “This decision underscores the organization’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of women’s professional golf and ensuring fair competition.”
In January, Davidson won a playoff and became the first trans golfer to earn an exemption to the Epson Tour.
As Davidson’s news broke, CEO McKinnon pledged to survey players and re-evaluate the organization’s transgender policy that allowed Davidson to compete and win.

NXXT defended Davidson’s hiring after his win earlier this year.

This approach maintains the integrity of our partnership with the LPGA and ensures a fair and consistent competitive environment. It is extremely important to ensure that when Haley Davidson joined the Tour, she complied with these policies by providing the required documentation, including verification from the LPGA and USGA, thereby ensuring that the 2022 Participating in Q-School has also become easier.”
