Golf fans will have to wait a few more weeks to see Tiger Woods tee off again.
15-time major champion Not playing at TPC Sawgrass Next week will be the venue for the 50th Players Championship.
Woods last competed in the Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club, but withdrew midway through the second round due to illness.
So Woods, who hasn’t played at The Players since 2019, will focus his efforts on Augusta National, where the Masters Tournament awaits in April.
Woods, of course, played in last year’s Masters, but withdrew early Sunday morning due to plantar fasciitis and a lingering ankle injury. He underwent surgery a few weeks later, forcing him to miss most of the 2023 season.
He then returned to competitive play at the Hero World Challenge in December and revealed his future plans for the 2024 golf season.
“I think the best-case scenario is probably having one tournament a month,” Woods said in the Bahamas.
“I think that’s realistic. [Whether I] I’ll probably have to start on Genesis or somewhere near THE PLAYERS in March. Again, he currently has one biggest event per month. It sets itself. Now I have to prepare for them all. ”
Woods did not formally commit to this schedule at the time, but he envisioned it as a possibility.
But those chances have since diminished, even though Woods recently played in a pro member event at Seminole Golf Club in South Florida.
Perhaps he’ll return to TPC Sawgrass in 2025, but he has to finish all 72 holes at this year’s major championship before that idea comes to mind.
only time will tell.
