Chicago police officers on Monday believed they had interrupted a man sexually assaulting a woman when the suspect made the chilling claim.
According to CWB Chicago, the incident occurred when officers were called to the scene of a sexual assault in progress in South Chapel just before 9 p.m. report Friday.
According to reports, authorities found a 24-year-old woman who had been assaulted and sexually assaulted. Responding officers quickly took the suspect into custody, identifying him as 19-year-old Keenan Jackson.

The suspect reportedly told law enforcement authorities, “I wasn’t trying to rape her, I was trying to kill her,” and added, “I’m going to get out of jail, find that bastard, and kill her.” ” he added.
When Jackson was found allegedly on top of the victim, authorities noticed that Jackson’s pants had been pulled down and the woman’s underwear had been torn, CWB Chicago reported.
The suspect is accused of punching her multiple times in the head and face. She was eventually taken to the hospital in critical condition. The suspect claimed he attacked the woman because she stole money to buy drugs.

The victim was found to have suffered a nasal fracture, facial hematoma and oral lacerations, according to a criminal complaint filed against the suspect.
Authorities did not charge Jackson with sexual assault, but with aggravated assault causing great bodily harm. “Judge Charles Beach detained Jackson as a security threat,” the CWB Chicago report concluded.
The news comes at a time when Chicago is struggling with rampant crime.
