Six Flags Great Adventure will unveil its 15th roller coaster this summer as it celebrates its 50th anniversary season.
The new ride, dubbed “The Flash: Vertical Velocity,” is expected to open sometime this summer. park officials told NJ.com..
The park opens for the season the weekend of March 16th and will operate daily from March 28th to April 7th during spring break.

The Flash sends riders along two U-shaped steel tracks at 110 mph out of the gate in less than four seconds. The park stated on its website:.
Passengers twist the 185-foot-tall corkscrew before reversing toward the station on their way to a second 185-foot-tall vertical tower. Do 2.5 laps of this, climbing the twisty side 3 times and the straight side twice.
This ride traverses 2,700 feet of track in just 45 seconds.
The park’s website advertises that “when you’re hurtling through the center at top speed and rising vertically, you’re moving so fast it feels like you’re about to blast off into space.” There is. “Take a breath before you plummet. It’s like free-falling completely vertically into the middle of a roller coaster.”
The theme park also introduces Savannah Sunset Resort and Spa, which is scheduled to open on June 14th.

Other new additions that park users can look out for include a new treehouse structure with a children’s slide on Splash Island and several new retail stores.
Other parts of the park are also being upgraded, including some restaurants.
“Whether it’s your first visit or your 50th, no matter your thrill level, everyone will discover new attractions, enhanced park features, exciting events and nostalgic highlights within our resort.” Park President Brian Batica told NJ.com.
