There may be no greater rivalry in all sports than Duke vs. North Carolina in men’s college basketball. Saturday’s matchup between the top 10 teams had even more significance than usual, with the ACC regular season championship on the line. If Duke wins, Duke and UNC will share the league title, while a victory at Cameron Indoor Stadium will give the Tar Heels the outright championship.
With so much at stake, the match was bound to be tense. That nerve spilled over from Duke star Kyle Filipowski during ugly moments in the first half.
When play resumed on the other side of the court, Filipovski appeared to intentionally trip UNC’s Harrison Ingram. Grayson Allen, is that you? This is a terrible situation for the Blue Devils. Watch a video of Filipowski’s trip here.

It was just a few weeks ago that Filipovski appeared to be injured when Wake Forest fans stormed the court after an upset win over Duke. The incident sparked several days of debate over whether courtroom attacks should be banned. Filipovski never missed any time and suffered no major injuries.
Filipowski’s trip may have been a flagrant foul, but somehow he escaped unscathed. He will remain in the game in this important match.
Grayson Allen had Some infamous trip incidents During his time at Duke University.Allen He was suspended “indefinitely” in 2017 under coach Mike Krzyzewski. He stumbled, but it only lasted one game. Will Filipovski face any kind of punishment? Probably not. But dirty play like this has no place in the game, especially not in a great rivalry like UNC vs. Duke.
