Ariana Grande has urged fans not to attack those around her following the release of her new album, Eternal Sunshine.

The 30-year-old pop star shared a message to her followers on her Instagram Stories on Saturday after releasing her seventh studio album on Friday.

“Anyone who is sending hateful messages to people in my life based on your interpretation of this album does not support me and does the exact opposite of what I encourage. (and I completely misunderstand the intent of it), I just want to say that (behind the music)…I want you to stop. That’s not a way to support me. It’s the opposite,” Grande wrote. wrote.

The two-time Grammy winner later followed up with another post on her Instagram Story, writing, “Thank you! I love you!!!!!!”

Eternal Sunshine is Grande’s first full-length album in four years since her chart-topping 2020 release Positions. The album was released after Grande’s highly publicized divorce from her ex-husband Dalton Gomez.

Grande and the 28-year-old real estate agent began dating in January 2020 and announced their engagement in December of the following year. The couple tied the knot in May 2021 at their home in Montecito, California.

Grande filed for divorce from Gomez in July amid rumors that she was dating her Wicked co-star Ethan Slater, 31. That same month, Slater divorced his wife of one year, Lily Jay. Eldest son.

Although Grande and Slater have not officially confirmed their relationship, they have been spotted together several times since splitting from their spouses.

Since Eternal Sunshine was released on Friday, Grande’s fans have taken to social media to dissect the album’s lyrics, suggesting that some of the 13 songs were inspired by her divorce from Gomez and her rumored romance with Slater. I am guessing that this is what was obtained.

Grande, a longtime fan of actor Jim Carrey, said the album was partially an homage to the actor’s 2005 film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. In this sci-fi romance of his, Carrey and Kate Winslet played ex-lovers who use futuristic technology to erase all memories of each other after a painful breakup.

The “Thank U, Next” hitmaker did not directly comment on whether she drew on her personal relationships when creating the album.

In an interview on “The Zach Sang Show” on Friday, she said that some of the songs on “Eternal Sunshine” are about dealing with a difficult breakup.

While discussing the song “I Wish I Hated You,” Grande said via E! News, “I think it’s like a very important color that exists within the album, because it’s just an important piece of the puzzle for me. I’m happy to admit, and it just wasn’t right. ”

“And you don’t have to pretend you’re a monster to make peace with this ending,” the singer continued. “If you can hate people, it will make your grief a lot easier.”

On Saturday, Spotify announced that “Eternal Sunshine” has set a record as the most streamed album in a single day on the platform so far in 2024.
